The trip to Washington

I am so glad that our school have Easter holiday and let me have time to went to Washington; the Nation’s capital. I am a tourist and there is no doubt that I want to go visit Washington.
The day we go was a windy spring day. I put my hand in the pocket but still feel very cold. The time we go was just holding the 2007 National Cherry Blossom Festival. It supposed to have a lot of cherry now. Therefore, I expect to see a lot of cherry and take a lot of pictures. But I didn’t see “a lot” of cherry and just a few on the tree. I think it was because the weather turns cold and the wind is so strong that blows away the cherry. So I didn’t have chance to take a lot of pictures with the cherry. However, I still take a lot of pictures with the memorials. We walk a long distance to take the picture with different memorial they have and it was so tired to walk a long distance. At that moment I really want to rent the bicycle. Haha~~

Washington, DC was a quite and clean city. I did not see a lot of people walking on the street, and people leaving there seem not in a rush. I didn’t hear people playing loud music when they are driving and I didn’t hear any horn. They all seem so patient. There subway looks so clean and modern, moreover, it look likes other places I have been in Washington, was so quiet and clean. It was really different than New York. But I think the subway in New York is better than Washington because it was more convenient; I don’t need to walk a long distance to other places. But there is no question that Washington’s subway is clean.
The trip to Washington has a lot of fun although my leg was very tired. But I think I will only go there once. Haha

Revise Mid term

Midterms are finally over.

I have finally gotten though this terrible midterm week.
I always feel exhausted every time I prepare for the exam. It seems that all that I have done for this week was studying and studying. I always sit on the chair with the textbook.

Preparing for the WEST’s BUSINESS LAW totally made me crazy. The entire thing was easy to understand when I saw it on the book, but when I saw it on the test it was extremely alien to me. Constitution, civil law, criminal law, uniform commercial code, agreement, contract were mixed together. A lot of words I have checked in the dictionary several times but I still could not remember it. The process of preparing for the exam was totally making me crazy! However, it was not totally boring studying the law, some of the cases mentioned in the book was interesting. But it only becomes interesting when I don’t need to remember it.

Another exam was in marketing management and it was absolutely different from law; it was much more fun. However, some of my classmates thought marketing management was difficult.
Interesting thing is that, people who thought marketing management was difficult were majoring in finance; they thought business statistics or financial accounting, which is something that required calculations to be much more interesting. And we who major in marketing thought marketing management was interesting. Wow, people with different majors really think differently, haha
Anyway, I finally can say goodbye to this busy week and say hello to the lovely spring break!

Rush day

Today was a rush day.
We had to register for classes for the summer and fall semester. In order to choose the class I want, I woke up at 6:50 this morning. The first thing I did after I woke up was turn on the computer and login to my account. Everything runs well in the beginning. When I started to enter my password for registration, the computer screen show that my account was on hold and I cannot add the class. I had no idea how it could happened. At the same time some of my friend said they had the ame problem as me, and they are going to the dean’s office. But I felt so sleep in the morning; especially I went to sleep at 4 am. I only got two hours sleeping i really don’t have the energy to walk to school. Therefore, instead of going to school immediately I choice to call the dean office at 9am. Luckily, I can remove the hold by making the phone call. I am glad that all my class still available especially when I know that some of the class is full. And it was 11 am. It was crazy. The class was full in four hours.

I finally finished my registration.
The summer section I have to walk really hard~~~~~~Monday though Thursday, 6:20pm to 10:30pm.
It dark when I back home.~~~

Red storm v.s. Duke

Today i went to see the basketball game in MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. I am there to support St John ’s basketball. It was very surprised that many people came to see the game. I was wrong to underestimate that it was a small game and many people came to support the game.

Seating it the place where NBA basketball game was held, and looking around the court I felt so excited. The place was not as big as I was imaged. But the LCD screen was just like what I saw on the television. St John’s Red towel was hanging on the seat around the court. All you can see is all red.

During the game when some team called break off, the music will start to play and the cheer squad start to dance. It makes us not feel so boring during the break off.
Although we did not win Duke, but I still feel worth to spent $15 dollar to take a look at Madison square garden and support our school. Some day I will come and saw a real NBA.

Snowstorm

My mom always asks me is it cold in New York? Is it snow?
I always answer “no”. I start thinking that maybe I won’t see the snow storm in this year and feel lost.
But haha~~
I finally experienced the snow storm. It was so interesting. The school even closed because of the storm. In Taiwan, we only closed the school because of typhoon.

This was the first really snow storm in New York and I felt so excited. At the beginning I thought it was just rain hitting on the window and making noise. But when I stand by the window I know that I was wrong: it was snowing.

The whole roads became white. It looks like a heavy precipitation. Therefore, my roommates and I decided to go grocery shopping when it is snows. We walk in the snows and play with the first snow of this winter. We jumping up and down, trying to catch the snow, laughing and screaming. It was the first time for a lot of us.
However, I must admit that it was very hard to move and when snow hitting on the face was really hurt. Moreover, the traffic was so bad and snow becomes dirty. And snowing seems to become a very dangerous thing to the driver.
However, I still like the snow. Love the feeling that my feet sink in snows. And expect it snow larger next time~~~~hahahhahaha

snow skiing

Snow skiing
This was my first time skiing because there is no snow in Taiwan. By the way, compared with the weather in New York, Taiwan is so warm. One who have not been to Taiwan should go once. Anyway, the snow ski was really fantastic but very tired.

We went to Hunter Mountain. We went there with students comes from others school in New York and the only thing in common was that we all came from Taiwan, which means we don’t know how to ski. The weather was freezing outside but all of us were very excited. After we got the tickets we can’t wait to queue up to the equipment for ski.

Everything was new. The ski boots and ski were exceptionally heavy. I was already exhausted before I started the class. Since we all don’t know how to ski, we must attend a class before we could ski by ourselves. The couch taught us for almost one hour. He taught us how to walk on the snow and how to control the direction. During the class, I even thought that it is enough for today.

When I finally could ski by myself I was so excited. I start to ski down from the higher place. Everything was fine in the beginning until I lost the control. I felled over when the pace was getting faster and faster and finally lost control. Amazing things happened; it doesn’t hurt as I had expected when I failed down. Actually when I felled down and laid on the snow, I felt so great and relax. Haha

Happy time always go fast and also come at the right time. After faling several times I was tired and hungry. Snow ski is an exercise that can help loss a lot of calories. I have no more energy to move anymore with this heavy stuff. On the way back home everyone on the bus fall asleep.

I have a Wonderful day with my lovely friends.

Four hours driving to Boston.

Four hours driving to Boston
I am getting used to having four hours driving distance and even more.
December 17, I flew 17 hours back to my homeland, Taiwan.
December 28, I flew 17 hours back to New York.
January 8, I flew 4 hours to Orlando. During the trip in Florida, we drove from Orlando to Key West, without saying that we drove for a long time.
January 27, my friend’s in Boston asked me to go to her place.
Due to our more than eleven years of friendship, although i disliked sitting for an extended period of time, I take four hours to Boston.
Long distance travel is the thing I don't need the most. In Taiwan, you could go from northernmost part to southernmost part in around four hours. Therefore, four hours means a lot. Anyway, I spent my last weekend in Boston with my old friend!
This was not the first time I went to visit her in Boston but this is the first time I visited her after she moved to the new place. Her new place is new and looks great. What did I do with my old friend? The fact is that my friend was going to have a small party in her place. She invited her best friends. I am glad that I had been invited. And she planned to cook for the party. Since she did not cook very often she was nervous about cooking. She decided to start cooking at four o’clock because her friend came at six thirty. I must say that she cooked well and I was very impressed.Having dinner with her friends was great. Her friends come from many different places; therefore, the only language we could use was English. I am glad to have the chance to practice English. It is interesting that I feel relaxed while having conversation in English. I am still wondering why?! But I guess the only reasonable reason is because I was drinking.

At night she showed me a letter she kept for a long time. It was interesting that we both kept the letters we wrote to each other. The content now looks childish. But I was really touched when we read the letter together. It will be more meaningful when we read it when we are both forty years old.It feels so great to have an old friend. Old friends are hard to find. We have known each other for quite a long time and we know each others quite well. The feeling of the day we spent together was just like what we had in the past.

Birth order!!

Recently I read a paragraph about birth order, the paragraph was written by Lucille K. Forer. The title is”How Your Birth Order Influences Your Life Adjustment”. It is an interesting article. Just like Western horoscopy and Chinese used twelve animals symbolizing the twelve branches to designate years. They all talk about how personality may be influenced by the month or years when you were born. Some people believe in it, while others holds opposite opinion.

In the paragraph Forer said that the oldest child was more responsible and would be parental. I think this is close to the truth. I am the oldest child in my family and I have one younger brother. I always take care of my brother. If my parents are not at home, I will try to do my best to prepare food for my brother, even though I cannot cook. I still remember once when my parents were not at home. I tried to make a French fries. I put the potato into pot until the oil is boiling. Surprising things happened; The fries turned a black color immediately. This fact shocked me and my brother. Well, I tried again in different way. I put potato in the oil at the beginning and get it off until the oil boil. This time I succeess. I am glad that my brother still have the courage to eat the things I make after he saw my failures and is still alive after eating them.

Forer also mentions that the first child would be the barrier between parents and later children. From my personal experience, my mother always wants me to transmit information to my younger brother because they think he is more likely to listen to me. All in all, I think that Forer’s opinion in first child is close to the truth. After reading this paragraph, I gained a lot of knowledge about birth order and how it influences ones personality. But still, ones background and education is crucial to influence ones personality.
